Writing Your Wedding Vows
Depending whether your wedding is going to be formal, traditional or something else entirely you will need wedding vows. Today most brides and grooms are writing thier own vows and all you need is a little creativity. There are also those of you who want to use traditional vows, whatever category you fall into there are a few things that should be considered.

The meaning of Traditional Vows
Traditional vows have a history and they are usually very moving, just thinking about using vows that many loving couples have used before gives you a promise of a lifetime of love and happiness. However if you insist of creating your own vows you should maybe consider using traditional vows as a guideline.

A unique expression of your committment to each other.
If you do choose to make your own vows then you must inform the Officiate or whoever is overseeing the ceremony beforehand and they will guide you on how long the vows should be and at what point you will be saying them.
When you write your own wedding vows it allows you to be creative using the words you speak when committing yourselves to each other. Although you may have some ideas of your own, here are some ideas that with a bit of extra imagination can guide you to put together the very best vows for you.
Think about it for example, most people when they are in love have songs or poems that best remind you of each other or things that have happened during your relationship. Take a good looks at the lyrics of your favourite love song or poem and you can use them to write your vows or part of them. In addition you can check out romance fiction or any famous love stories. Write down a few lines of each and put together a vow that best reads your true feelings for your partner.
Make sure that what you have written is what you feel and what you are willing to promise dont forget that this commitment is for a lifetime. When you have finished writing it practice saying it out aloud or even tape it and play it back to yourself so you can feel whether it is the right length and not overdone. You may decide to write your vows together or seperately and even not hearing each others vows untill the day. This is your choice so do what you feel is best for you.
Using traditional vows your own or a combinatation of the two is your decision and you have to live with it, these vows are the central focus of the wedding ceremony. You should take your time on them and pay attention making them a true feeling of what is in your heart.
Here is an example of a traditional wedding vow.
Groom:
I, ____________, take you, ____________, as my friend and lover, to stand beside me and apart from me, in laughter and in tears, in conflict and tranquility. I ask from you to be no other than yourself, I love what I know of you, I trust you and I will continue to love what I have let to learn about you.
The Groom places the Bride’s ring on her finger and says:
____________, I give you this ring as a symbol of my vow, and with all that I am, and all that I have, I honor you, in the name of God.
